Suffered A Dual Distal Break In Right Fibia. Was Told Not To Wear A Boot. What Is The Reason?
I have suffered a dual distal break my right fibia (spiral fracture) and was told previously not to wear a boot 24/7. Can you pls tell me why this is? I thought you needed to wear it for bone union. It is 7 weeks after injury and I wore it for the first 6 weeks. Thanks Sophia
Hello. Thanks for writing to us. The boot is given for proper immobilization and should be used only while walking or working. it is not needed during the rest as it may decrease the blood supply and may not allow the muscles to relax adequately. I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you. Regards, Dr. Praveen Tayal , drtayal72@gmail.com
