Suffered From Stroke. Head Was Hit And Feeling Tired. What Could It Be?

My 81 year old stepdad just had what appeared as a stroke to those who were with him but test seemed to show the old stroke and not a current one, he had hit his head 3 wks prior and seemed more tired than normal, should the test him for a longer period re the mri , cat scan. He is at Hershey medical center and I live out of state, I am concern he didnt get need tap if there eas a stroke. He is week on right side and speaking some gibberish.

Since you are saying that he had a history of head trauma 3 wks and more so he is 81 yr old and wkness of rt upper and lower limb with speech difficulty sugessts that he might have chronic sub dural haemmorage on left side probably secondary to head injury one month back. This may also mimic a stroke in evolution . I suggest your dad to get a CAT SCAN done at the earliest as chronic SDH is curable by a simple surgery by putting two burr holes and draining the collection. If nothing is seen on CAT scan then he may require MRI scan brain for further evaluation.
