Suffering From Anxiety And Depression After Accident. What Could Be Done?

I had a head, back, neck injury in 2002. Since then I get depression and anxiety very quickly. Anxiety when I'm doing a job that could result in material or production costs. Also if I have to be moving quickly and thinking at the same time I can feel nauseous. After the injury I started to type double words with no recollection of doing so.
ie I went to the the movie.
When I get very stressed. I experience a nerve from my right ear down to my neck goes cold. In the past it was the whole left side of my face. Still at times my left pinky finger will go completly numb when I'm sleeping or sometimes my upper lip will began twitching. After the accident I became very paranoid with my speach and would even studder a little. What is a possible diagnosis of what's going on with me and a possible solution apart from ignoring these events and living a minimized life?

Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hi there ~

I understand your concerns. I am sorry to hear about your injuries suffered in 2002. It is very likely that you had depression and anxiety after the accident as Post traumatic injury can present in many different ways. However, it seems like you are having problems with the injury and are not able to cope with the same in a right manner. The inner strength to overcome and cope with distress is called the ego and the superego. These are psychological theories, however there are many medication present in today's world that can help with depression and anxiety and the class of medications that are most commonly used for the same are called SSRIs or selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors. I hope you consult a qualified psychiatrist to get the appropriate medication prescribed for you considering your other medical conditions, if any. I also think that a consult with a neurologist would be appropriate in your case, as it would throw light into what deficits you have, in addition to what you are describing and if any imaging study like MRI can indicate as to what type of injury has occurred in the part of the brain/spine that is making things go awry for you.

I hope this helps. Take care and have a lovely day!
