Suffering From Chronic Tramadol And Codeine Withdrawal. Took Diazepam, Zopiclone. Will These Medicines Have Any Side Effect?
I`m suffering from chronic tramadol and codeine withdrawal causing me extreme insomnia, My UK Dr has been useless in providing help for this so have decided to take matters into my own hands, I have taken 10 mg (street) diazepam and 7.5 mg of zopiclone so I get a rare nights sleep as I have long shift at work tomorrow. Could this cause me and danger or complications?
Tremadol and codeine (opioid) withdrawal is known to cause irritability, restlessness, insomnia, lacrimation, salivation, yawning, muscle spasm etc symptoms. The symptoms occur due to chronic saturation of receptors of opioid drugs. Taking benzodiazepine (diazepam) or zopiclone may help a little in sleep but you will become dependent on them. These drugs have also high abuse potential and cant cure all withdrawal symptoms. Medicines like methadone, buprenorphin etc are used in opioid withdrawal. Visit your psychiatrist again and discuss about expert management of withdrawal syndrome.
