Suffering With Belching, Sore Ribs, Insomnia. Prescribed Omeprazole, Slight Gastritis. Could It Be Stress Related

hi I've been suffering with belching for about six months now ,others symptoms include sore ribs ,back ,muscles and aching jaw ,insomnia ,been prescribed omeprazole 20mg ,which doesn't seem to help much .Had a camera down into my stomach and there was a slight sign of gastritis ,also been for scan to check for gallstones ,nothing picked up ! GP has said it could be stress related ,symptoms come and go ,varying in severity from some days feeling fine to other days being rotten others .wondering if you could help

Hello! Thanks for putting your query in HCM. I am a Gastroenterologist (DM).

Presence of insomnia, sore ribs, backache, aching jaw suggest some anxiety or stress related.For which you may take mild antianxiety agent like clonazepam.

For belching:
1.Continue with omeprazole and along with it take domperidone.
2.Do regular aerobic exercise at least 30 minutes / day
3. If you are obese or overweight then you should reduce your weight again by exercise and low caloric diet
4.Observe when you take milk or milk products whether these symptoms worsen, if yes then please avoid them
5. Avoid carbonated drinks, wine or beer and smoking if you do
6.Don't forget to close mouth while chewing food and eat slowly
7.Take Tablets that contain enzymes protease, amylase, lipase with meals
