Suggest A Remedy For Swelling On The Knee Post Surgery

I had total knee replacement surgery 1 year and 5 months ago. For the last 5 months I noticed that I was actually seeing more swelling and less improvement each month. I recently went in for blood work and knee aspiration to look for possible infection. I should get the results back within the next 3 days. But the PA said that if infected they would have to take out the artificial parts, treat the area with antibiotics and then 6 weeks later put in another appliance! Is there an alternative to this approach? Thanks XXXX

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Probably not. To take the swelling, try aspirin and ibuprofen and a cold dressing around the knee.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Anders Mark Christensen, General Surgeon
