Suggest A Treatment To Overcome Drug Induced Coma

My partner had a left brain stroke in November of 2013. He also has had seizures, undetermined if they happened prior to stroke or post. He began a vast improvement the first of March. Nursing home failed to administer the seizure meds for three days. He is now in drug induced coma trying to stop them. He also has cirrhosis but his ammonia level is good. What can be done to stop this.

Hello!

Welcome and thank you for asking on HCM!

Regarding your concern, I would explain that your partner situation seems to be really critical.

The hepatic cirrhosis makes the situation more complicated, because the antiepileptic drugs that do not affect the liver function are just a few.

As he is under induced coma, this will help his brain to calm down and reduce the seizure threshold. It will help also reduce the brain swelling from repeated seizures.

After some days, the doctors will try to come off the induced coma and try to reduce seizures using antiepileptic drugs.

You should just be patient and wait. We can not know what will happen. These are just suppositions. Time will tell the truth.

Hope you will find this answer helpful!

Kind regards, Dr. Aida
