Suggest Alternate Medication For Alprazolam

HI, I live in Maine. I am prescribed 1mg alprazolam 4 times a day. I have been on them for 6 years. I am 39 years old. My doctor closed his practice with no for-warning whatsoever. I only have about one weeks worth of medication left and am very anxious and don t know what to do. I went to one doctor last week and was treated like dirt. With my former doctor I always had the right amount of medication when I went to see him. I never failed a urine test and never tried filling my prescription early. Now, I am afraid to go to any doctor because of the way I was treated last week but, I also don t want to run out of medication.

Hello
Welcome here.
Abrupt withdrawal from alprazolam can cause tremors, drowsiness, tachycardia and seizures in severe cases.
I would suggest you to visit a psychiatrist. He will evaluate you correctly and will prescribes the essential dosage for you.
Hope this helps.
Thanks
