Suggest Alternative For Methanamine Hippurate For Bladder Infection

I was prescribed Methenamine Hipp several months ago for many bladder infections I have had, I was under the impression from the doctor that it was NOT an antibiotic. Now I discovered it is! Much to my dismay. Have been on it twice a day for almost five months! Do you know of anything else I could take in place of this and how much damage has this much of an antibiotic done to my body??? I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

As per my surgical experience, the Methylamine hippurate side effects do not show up after certain days once its consumption is over, so do not panic if currently you are not taking this medicines. Report to your doctor if you have blood in urine or other symptoms. My suggestions at present:
- Drink more liquids.
- Start to take cranberry tablet two times a day after meals.
- Get prescription of urine culture and further antibiotics according to that only.
