Suggest Alternative Medicine For Nitrofurantoin Macro Caps 50mg

My insurance will no longer cover my prescription for Nitrofurantoin Mac Caps 50 mg. I use it as a preventative for reoccurring bladder infections. I only use it after intercourse and it has kept me infection free for many years. Is there a similar drug that I might use that my insurance might cover?

Hello,

trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole or quinolone (low dose) can be used instead. I don't know if your insurance will cover the cost. My guess is that your insurance won't cover antibiotics for prevention because I can't see the reason for excluding nitrofurantoin only!
