Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Last week I had a colonospy and I have had some problems. The surgeon who did the proceduretold that he could not complete the procedure because of polyops and diviticulitis and he would order a bare enema. I would have to be cleaned out completely before the procedure could be done.He gave me bottles of citrus and golytely which I consumed. I thought that I had emptied my bowels.I went into the imaging room and readied myself for the procedure. When the tech took an x-rayhe stated that my bowels were not cleaned out and the radiologist wuld not attempt the procedure.I was then told that we would have to try again the next day. I went home and about four hours latermy owels decided to move and I filled the commode. I hate the thoughts of having to take the prep again What can I do?
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history of colonoscopy, which could not be completed due to polyposis and diverticulitis, asked for barium enema but the fecoliths in X-ray needed the preparation again and you had bowels moved after 4 hours, wants to know what should be done further as you do not like the idea of having preparation again... I would advise you the following in such a situation: Go back for X-ray and if it shows empty bowels, barium enema will be done. Also needed before barium is CT scan of abdomen to see for diverticulitis and any lymph nodes or signs of cancer.
