Suggest An Alternative For Surmontil Caps

I live in New Zealand and presently cannot obtain Surmontil caps ( trimipramine ) which I have successfully taken for years for primary insomnia. Is it possible to find out if this brand drug may come back on the market again, or is a generic substitute available. I don t find Amitriptyline a useful substitute for me and it has far more side effects.

The generic form would be called trimipramine, so you can ask for that if the brand name isn't available. Another related drug called trazodone (Desyrel is the brand name) is frequently prescribed for insomnia and may work well for you. Hope this helps.
