Suggest An Alternative Of Vimpat

I am subject to seizure due to having two neuro surgical operations. I now take Vimpat 200mg to prevent and it has provided the longest period of not having one that being Oct 2013. The drug is very expensive as you know. It there another that might be just as effective? My problem is money and I didn t know a fee was required. I nevertheless thank you.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Vimpat is a brand name of the drug lacosamide which is an effective anticonvulsant. You can try other cheap brands like “Lacasa” which is available in the market and has the same content. You can also consider switching to other anticonvulsants like carbamazepine which is relatively cheaper after consulting with your neurologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
