Hi
Welcome to Healthcare-Magic
Greetings of the day

Scald injuries due to hot water usually cause superficial burns. There is partial destruction of nerve fiber in superficial burns, so the pain sesnsation is intact causing pain out of proportion to injury. Exact degree of burn depends on good clinical examination.
Anti-inflammatory like Ibuprofen will give the much needed relief.

Take Care

Best Regards
Dr Deepak
