Suggest Better Treatment For Fever And Loose Motion
My baby is 5 months old , weight 5.7 kg ..she has fever since yesterday ...we visited a doctor who gave her a supository as her fever was very high ....we were also given adol to give her in the night should the fever come up ....and we were given an antibiotic - augmentin 156mg/5 ml - 100 ml suspension in powder form and we were told to give her 2wice a day......today she is having loose motion and her fever has gone up again to 38.....what should we do

Please stop augmentin syrup, which most likely is the cause of her loose stools.
Give her crocin drops 0.75 ml which can be repeated every 5 hours if required(if her temperature is more than 37.5 degree C)
If her loose motions persists,no medication is required except supplementation with zinc (Z AND D drops 0.5 ml once daily for 14 days)
please ensure that baby keeps taking feed properly
In case you feel her oral intake of fluids is not sufficient she should be given oral rehydrating solution as much as baby can take.
Hopefuly her fever will settle in a few days time (2-3 days)

For fever give her 0.75 ml of crocin/calpol drops which if needed can be repeated after every 5 hours.(no need of calpol/crocin if fever is less than 100 degree F).
Please record her temperature every 3 hours and maintain a diary.
As majority of the infections are viral in nature, they do not require any antibiotics, and the illness is usually over in 6-7 days time.
If your baby develops any significant symptoms (refusal to take feeds/vomitings /excessive irritability /high fever like more than 100 degree F),in that case an opinion by a pediatrician will be wise option.
