Suggest Cause And Remedy For Bad Breath And Redness Around The Tonsils

I have really bad breath even though I keep up with my oral hygiene. I brush my teeth, tongue, and the roof of my mouth. When I look at my tonsils they appear red and somewhat purple. There also seems to be a black coating around the tonsils. What could this be?

I have gone through you query and can understand your concern..

As per your complain it seems like there is infection in the tonsils that can be bacterial or viral in nature or acid reflux or conditions causing inflammation of tonsils like Post nasal drip or Sinusitis....
I would suggest you to consult an ENT expert and get evaluated and he can do a thorough clinical examination and investigations like throat swab culture, upper G.I Endoscopy, etc to rule out for the exact cause of the inflammation and bad breath and treatment can be planned accordingly..
As of now do warm saline gargles, chew flavoured chewing gums and gargle with flavoured mouthwash to mask bad breath..
