Suggest Correct Medicine For High Eosinophil Count

I have been told by doctor that as the Eosinophil count is 8.2, advised to take Hetrazan 100mg thrice a day and Deriphyllin Retard 150mg once in a day for 10 days. Can you please suggest, whether the medicine suggested are perfectly okay or need to take the 2nd opinion?

Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic.
I can understand your concern.
No, you should not directly start these drugs.
Eosinophils are raised in allergy, filariasis, parasitic infection and drug induced.
Allergy is most likely cause for high eosinophils.
Hetrazan is antifilarial drug. No need for this drug because possibility of filariasis is less in your case. In filariasis, eosinophils are markedly raised while in your case they are mildly raised.
So no need to take Hetrazan.
Deriphyllin is bronchodilator. It is given in asthma. So if you are not having breathlessness than no need for deriphyllin.
In my opinion, you should only take combination of antihistamine and anti allergic drugs.
These will control your allergy and hence reduce the eosinophils.
Hope I have solved your query.
I will be happy to help you further.
Wish you good health. Thanks.
