I have been fighting infections since 12/13/13. I went to the hospital and was diagnosed with pharyngitis. I was given Amoxicillin 500mg x3 a day for 10 days. After taking half of dosage, I was still feeling sick. I had fatigue, head and neck pain, post nasal drip, chills, just feeling weird. I was told by my GP that I may have mono so I stopped taking meds. I went to an ENT and he looked through my nose down my throat. He said all look ok except that my esophagus was irritated. He believed it was acid reflux. I have been taking omeprazole 40 mg once a day. Since I continued to feel sick, I went to the urgent care and tested negative for mono and flu. They also did a chest xray to rule out pneumonia. On 12/29/13, I got the worst headache (at the lower base of skull). I felt the post nasal drip, and like I was going to faint and chills. They did a CT scan of my head (without contrast) and said all looked good and blood work looked good too. Then on 1/14/14 I had shortness of breath and pain under rib cage on the left side. I had been to my GP the day before and she said I had bronchitis and put me on cipro. When I went to hospital with the ab pain, they did a AB/Pelvic CT scan with contrast and said everything was fine but I did show a lot of gas in my intestines (I have been burping a lot). They also did a Chest XRAY and I had pneumonia on the lower left lobe and that is probably why I had ab pain. I was admitted into hospital for 3 days. I finished my medication but I still felt sick. I was still coughing up yellow mucus. Also, I had yellow, brown, bloody and sometimes clear mucus coming from my nose. MY GP said pneumonia takes a while to clear up. However, my GP sent me to get a CT scan of Sinus and Chest (with contrast). I didn't go right away because I didn't want anymore radiation. However, I continued to feel sick 3 weeks later so I decided to go get the CT scans. Chest was clear except that my right lung at bottom is not getting air. GP said to cough and take deep breaths but all looks clear. However, she said I had a sinus infection. She said CT scan was showing gray. Please note that I no longer had drainage, just the post nasal drip and pain on the back of head, neck and shoulders. Also, I still get those pains right under my rib cage. She prescribed Amox-Clav 875 mg x2 per day for 10 days. I'm on day 6 and I'm still feeling sick. It hurts when I breath sometimes, like air goes directly through my nose to my eyes and back of head (cold air feeling). My back of head and neck are still in pain and the upper back hurts as well. I feel very tired and get a chill that goes through my body that comes and goes. Also, I still have that post nasal drip feeling and I feel like my soft palate is swollen and lower than usual. I have no fever and blood pressure is fine (low sometimes but not lower that 100/60). Could I have some other virus going on? Or maybe I did have mono? Sometimes meningitis has crossed my mind but hospital that I went for head CT scan said I wouldn't be able to walk. I'm fustrated because I'm still feeling sick. I don't know if I should go see an ENT, Gastro or Neurologist. My GP wants me to go see a Gastro because she thinks there may be something else going on there. But would that give me the head, neck, shoulder, back pain and post nasal drip. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
