Suggest Cure For Swelling In The Index Finger

my 6 week old baby has had an index finger which has been swollen from the nail and a bit beyond and it has now turned red. Our doctor examined it and said it might be an infection, and if not, it might require surgery. What condition would require surgery?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Possible causes like abscess or terminal pulp space infection must be ruled out. Consult a paediatrician and get evaluated. If there is pus collection, it must be drained and antibiotics must be started.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family physician
