Hi
You have had major surgery performed and you should perform simple things to assist with your recovery
- Try to walk if possible as this helps prevents the formation of blood clots in your legs.
- Don't drink too much water at night as this will reduce the need for urination.
- Go on a soft diet and eat food that contains fiber....this will prevent constipation and straining when you go to the toilet
- Don't lift heavy objects as this will increase the pressure within your abdomen and you could develop a hernia
- Monitor your incision site daily and report any abnormalities to your doctor immediately.
- Use cotton and loose fitting clothing so that it gives your wound a chance to breathe. This aids in the prevention of infection
- Sexual activity should be resumed in 2 or 3 months time so that the wound can heal well.
- If you experience any pain or abnormal bleeding please contact your doctor
