Suggest Diet Chart Post Diverticulitis Attack

There are many opinions about diet after a diverticulitis attack & stay in the hospital. Some say after being on a low fiber diet, go back to a high fiber diet, others say that is what causes all the pain & Ibs problems. I have ibs -c. High fiber diet seems to hurt me. What should I do?

Welcome to healthcaremagic.com. Sorry to hear about your illness.
1. The diet post diverticulitis is supposed to be low fiber diet and this is to assist the healing of the inflammation.
2. Antibiotics help with infection currently or presumed to fester after the attack.
3. The high fiber diet is used for those with diverticular disease, I do not believe that the high fiber diet is the direct cause of the diverticulitis.
4. Since you have IBS-constipation variant, it is also important that you have a high fiber diet when you can, the cause of the diverticulitis could be exacerbated by the hard stool which get trapped in done of the out-pouches.
5. Instructions:
Increase your fluid intake, change to high fiber diet after inflammation is resolved. I hope that this helps you out, good luck and thank you for your question.
