Hello Dr.
my father whose age is 52 years and there esr rate is 20 i am tensed about their health and i want to know about the diet and medicine which should help them. earlier they were suffering from high glysrides levels in their body and always complains about joint pains.so plz guide me

First Not to be panic about ESR ( erythrocyte sedimentation Rate).
Normal Range of ESR for age more than 50 is 20 mm/hr in Westergren method
Normal value ranges may vary slightly among different laboratories. Talk to your doctor about the meaning of your specific test results. In India trusted lab is accredited by NABL National accreditation Board for Laboratory.
An abnormal ESR may help with a diagnosis, but it does not prove that you have a certain condition. Other tests are almost always needed.

An increased ESR rate may be due to in common

Anemia
Cancers such as lymphoma or multiple myeloma
Kidney disease
Pregnancy
Thyroid disease
Autoimmune disorders
Bone infections
Certain forms of arthritis
Inflammatory diseases that cause vague symptoms
Tissue death
So kindly discuss with your doctor about others value if it is abnormal. otherwise no need to panicabout ESR 20.
