Dietitian & Nutritionist 's  Response
Welcome to HCM,
I will try to help you understand what will assist your mom with the very limited information you have provided.

Overall, when kidneys fail to function properly, the first thing to look at doing is to lower the protein in the diet and giving 1/2 of protein as complete protein such as eggs, milk, dairy,low-fat meats. Specific guidance can not be given without more information on co-existing conditions such as diabetes or other labs to determine source of iron problems.

I see that her creatinine has risen with the iron supplements. This is not good. I suggest you try to consult with a renal dietitian for proper diet and bring her labs, foods you eat now, likes/dislikes, weight history, height, age to get an individualized plan.

If we do not get your mother on a proper diet with the right amount of protein, fluid, sodium, potassium her kidneys will continue to decline. That is one reason her iron is low. The kidneys cannot process nutrients correctly right now. Sometimes Epoetin is given to boost blood levels. You may ask your doctor about it. She needs a complete nutritional consult with the information provided to the Dietitian that I mentioned above.

Her answer is not an easy answer. It will be detailed but many changes are called for. To provide such answers requires more information about your mother.
