Temp.around 99 degree and stomach pain. Put on Cefixime 200 mg twice a day. This is relapse of Typhoid. Is treatment is OK and what can have as diet. I am about 60 years of age and pure vegetarian

General & Family Physician 's  Response
A single Widal test showing H and/or O titers more than or equal to 1:160 and typhoid-like symptoms is suggestive of typhoid fever.
Typhoid fever is very resistant kind of fever. If you are responding to cefixime then continue with cefixime. If you are not responding, then you can start intravenous ceftriaxone. You can take any diet by your choice. If you are vegetarian then you can take vegetables, pasteurized milk, cheese and eggs.
Advice
1.     Complete bed rest
2.     Ceftriaxone 1 grams twice daily intravenously for 14 days
3.     Paracetamol 500 mg if fever occurs
4.     Drink plenty 4 – 5 liters of uncontaminated water daily
5.     Investigations
a.     blood culture for salmonella typhi
b.     complete blood count
c.     Hb%
