Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My child was born premature, i.e. 28 weeks. Weight at the time of birth was 1.6 kgs. He is about to turn 4. His present weight is 14.5kgs. He catches cold very often (once every month or more) and is low on stamina. He finds it hard to digest high protein / fat rich foods. Please recommend a diet plan for my child for his proper growth.
Ideal weight for your child at 4 years should be 16.7 kg. Approximate daily protein intake should be 21 gm and calories 1350 kcal. Offer your child foods from all five major food groups (grains, fruits, vegetables, dairy, and protein) at every meal. You may not always be able to get him to eat the recommended amount from each group every day, but if you serve a variety of healthy food, he'll eventually get what he needs over the course of a week. Prefer home made food over formulas. Limit dairy products. Add fresh fruit juices etc. This will solve bloating, constipation and other digestive problems.
