Hello John - How long have you been diagnosed with this rare condition? There is no formal diet in any clinical book I have (many), but I can give you a direction to take.
First, let us review Bumex. To be most effective, take on an empty stomach. It is given for water retention and
high blood pressure.Monitor potassium (low),
magnesium (low),sodium (low)calcium (low),
glucose (high) BUN (high)
creatinine (high), uric acid (high) , anemia and high
blood lipids. These blood dyscrasies may occur with the medication and balance restored if these side-effects occur. Avoid licorice.
Now, for your mesentary penniculitis. The best approach I believe is to fill your diet with anti-inflammatory foods and to decrease foods that promote inflammation since it is inflammation that is at the root of the problem.
High anti-inflammatory foods include: blueberries, red beans, cranberry, prunes, apples, plums. Avoid sugar,
saturated fat. Include tumeric liberally in seasoning food, eat almonds, avocados, asparagus, bell peppers, black beans, carrots, cinnamon and
omega-3 fatty acids.Flaxseed, ginger and green tea may also help.
I don't think there is an answer to your speculation on your early immune disease, but it is interesting to think about.
Occasionally, we see mesentary penniculitis will go into remission. Maybe you will be the lucky one.Kathryn J. Shattler, MS,RDN
