Hi,I am Neethu Vipin (Dietitian & Nutritionist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I found out yesterday I have a high sugar level. my blood sugar level was 340 yesterday at the office and this morning taking a fasting test it was 380. I have been instructed to try to reduce it with a diet but I don't know what I should eat. What should I eat for breakfast or should I fast today? I am under doctor's care.
Hello, Thanks for posting in HCM. For decreasimg blood sugars you mainly need to reduce the intake of obvious sugars and sweet things from the diet. Omitting sugar in morning coffee and tea will also help. Starch also gets converted in blood sugars so reduce rice in diet. Moderate amount of exercise will also helps increasing the insulin and thus causes reduction in blood sugars. Start with the above given advice and check your fasting blood sugars after 1 month to see the progress. If its still high then you might need to start with oral hypoglycemic drugs. I hope i have helped your query. Thank you
