Suggest Dosage For Adderall

I am curious to know if 40 mg of adderall twice per day seems like an appropriate dosage for a medium sized adolescent? We are continuing to increase the dosage and Im not sure If I should talk to the doctor about a different medication rather than a higher dosage of the adderall.
