Hi,

E. coli urinary tract infection with an ESBL can be resistant to several classes of antibiotics. You can treat these infections with Iv antibiotics. In the carbapenem class. ESBLs (stands for extended spectrum beta lactamase) are serious because they can be difficult to treat.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. ALICE TURNER, Pediatrician
