Hello, please help
I dont know what is wrong with me. On december 10th i was meant to get my period, but i didnt. Unfortunetly i didnt notice this because i miss calculated. On monday 13th december i had unprotected sex and my parter ejaculates. The next day i went to the pharmacy and took the pill. It was then after i realised i hadnt had my period. On the 19th december i got my period but it was a little more painful than normal. It lasted the normal time. On and off me and my partner have had unprotected sex but he hasnt ejaculated in me. My next period was due on january 17th monday. I havent had it. And today is friday. I have been experiencing back ache all over, slight twinges in my lower back, mild cramps around my stomach, odd off chance Sharp pains in my breasts, headaches, feeling sick through out the day, hungry a bit more than normal, not often jabbing pains in my hands, fatigue, constipation, frequent urination, not all the time itchy skin, gas, and some black outs when i get up. I took a Boots own brand pregnancy test today and it came up negative. I'm really worried, and too scared to go to the doctors. I dont want to assume i'm pregnant.
Thank you for your time

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

A urinary tract infection is a common cause of frequent urination and this is the first thing to think of.

An overactive bladder is another common cause but usually seen on elderly, although it may be seen in youngs as well.

Overactive bladder is usually a collection of symptoms that can lead to frequent urination.

These include: urinary urgency, or the sudden urge to urinate, caused by muscle contraction, urge incontinence, or loss of bladder control.

Excessive caffeine, nicotine, and alcohol may also irritate the bladder walls and can worsen frequent urination symptoms.

Treatment for frequent urination depends on the cause. Your doctor will first treat the primary disease responsible for frequent urination, such as diabetes.

If an infection is at fault, your doctor will prescribe antibiotics for getting rid of the infection.

Medications that control the muscle spasms in the bladder can help reduce urinary incontinence or loss of bladder control.

Your doctor also may suggest doing pelvic exercises, such as Kegels or bladder retraining exercises, to help delay urination.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Ivan R. Rommstein, General Surgeon
