HI I have severe pain in my roots almost on a regular basis and i am suffering from a problem of oily dandruff which goes away when i use medicine prescribed by a doctor but when its use is discontinued the problem remains the same. also i hv been suffering from hair loss. at present i wash my hairs thrice a week but no improvement. plz help
I would suggest you an antidandruff lotion e.g 2% ketoconazole shampoo, thrice weekly. For severe dandruff, I usually prescribe my patients a coal tar+steroid+salicylic acid lotion, for night application for 2 weeks, to loosen up adherent crusts/scales and settle down inflammation and oozing.
Since dandruff is a recurrent problem, therefore you need to use an antidandruff shampoo regularly, at least twice OR thrice weekly for maintenance of improvement.
