Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I ve had diarrhea for nearly a month. At first I was pretty sick and only had clear liquids for 48 hours, which didn t help. Now it s just diarrhea. When I eat, I have to go immediately. I told my doctor who put me on Ciprofoxacin, which didn t work. She put me on Metronidizole and that isn t working either. What could it be?
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted your history of starting liquid watery diarrhea for 2 days about a month back, now it is just diarrhea and comes on after food every time, not responding to Ciprofloxacin and Metronidazole. I would advise you the following in such a case: - Stool tests for 3 consecutive days. - Blood: Thyroid profile, sugar and other routine test. - Ultrasonography of the abdomen and CT scan if something is suspicious. - Colonoscopy and biopsy. - Tests for intolerance to gluten and so. All these reports will help us to get a proper diagnosis and proper management.
