Hi,
Thank you for your query. I can understand your concerns.
You are having generalized
hyperhidrosis.
Excessive sweating(hyperhidrosis) can be a warning sign of thyroid problems (
hyperthyroidism),diabetes(autonomic dysfunction) or infection ( e.g.
tuberculosis,
Infective Endocarditis ).
Excessive sweating is also more common in people who are overweight or out of shape.
Hyperhidrosis can also be due to
Generalized anxiety disorder.Anxiety and stress can cause the body temperature to rise, which can lead to sweating. The embarrassment brought about by excessive sweating can lead to more anxiety, which can lead to further sweating.
Menopause can also give rise to hot flushes and excessive seating.Hot flushes and sweating are caused by fluctuating or decreasing oestrogen levels, which drop dramatically when periods finally stop.
Certain cancer e.g Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and Hodgkin’s lymphoma, carcinoid tumours, leukaemia,
mesothelioma, bone cancer and liver cancer can sometimes cause sweating .
Excessive sweating is often a symptom of low glucose levels.
Sweating attacks is not uncommon in
Pheochromocytoma.
Withdrawal from many legal and illegal substances (including alcohol and opiates) can be accompanied by prolonged sweating.
Hence you need to undergo thyroid function test, blood glucose levels -fasting,post-prandial and random blood sugar and a thorough clinical examination, before coming to any conclusion regarding your excessive sweating and breathlessness.
