Though dandruff is a common cause of increased hair shedding but it rarely causes baldness and dandruff related hair fall is usually reversible.
I would like to keep a possibility of Androgenetic alopecia along with seborrheic dermatitis of the scalp.
While dandruff/seborrheic dermatitis is amenable to therapy with antidandruff shampoo/lotion e.g My choice is 2% ketoconazole shampoo(Nizral is 2% ketoconazole which is available OTC) thrice weekly to keep the dandruff under control.
Along with this one can also use a topical steroid lotion twice daily is the dandruff is stubborn/resistant.
Regarding androgenetic hair loss, I would recommend an oral antiandrogen e.g finasteride 1mg once daily. It prevents androgen dependent thinning of hair from the crown and vertex of the scalp and also stops progression of receding anterior hair line.
regards
