Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I ve had a tightness in my lower back. I ve thrown out my back twice in the past 18 months. But my (new) issue is that, while playing tennis out of no where my calf went numb for a split second. It felt like cold water going from knee to ankle, but was gone real quick. This has happened twice, both different at instances. Is it something I should be concerned about?
Yes it can be early sign of disc herniation and nerve compression. I would suggest you to get MRI of the spine and see if there is any nerve compression is present , according to that we can plan further management. Nerve compression if it is in early stage then it can be treated with physiotherapy, traction and tablet like Pregabalin and Methylcobal. If it is in advance stage then I am afraid it may need surgery, but as you are telling me that it is recently started in your case so i believe it is not in advance stage.
