Suggest Medication For Painful Hemorrhoids

I have 3-4 hemorrhoids that have been causing me excruciating pain for four weeks now. I literally lay in bed and pray and cry four eight hours every day. One hemorrhoid in particular is where all of the pain seems to be coming from. It is not soft and swollen like the others, but is flatter and somewhat hard. I have been to a surgeon twice. The first time she said it would start to get better and sent me home. She told me to use Tucks, sitz baths, miralax, and prescribed hydrocodon-acetaminophen. She did not think the harder hemorrhoid was thrombosed. I went back again a few days ago, and she insisted on doing an internal exam. I screamed and cried the whole time she was doing the exam. She again said there was nothing she could do. She prescribed valium and lidocaine. I am using the lidocaine and taking 2 hydrocodon-acetaminaphin, 1 valium, and 3 advils about every six hours, and they don t even begin to touch the pain. Do you agree with her treatment??? I m dying!!!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

As per your history, it may be due to hemorrhoids.

For that you can apply lignocaine Jelly locally.

For pain you can take tablet acetaminophen.

In case of severe bleeding you may require surgical intervention after surgeon consultation.

Avoid heavy weight lifting and strenuous activity.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shyam B. Kale, General & Family Physician
