Suggest Medication For Runny Nose And Bouts Of Cough In A Toddler

Sir, My daughter is 1.25 yrs old. from last two days she is suffering from running nose and cough stokes. the cough strokes are such that she is vomiting all the food that she takes.(in last three days she had 3 vomits.) yesterday she slept in the morning and suddenly cough strokes started and from sleep she had vomited all the food.) i have started Phenargan- 5 ml twice since yesterday. and today i have given her Tixylix - 5 ml. in the morning. kindly advice what medication shall i start.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query your daughter have symptoms of runny nose and bouts of cough which is due to poor immunity of your body and infection of sinuses leading to sinusitis. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to avoid use of spicy, sharp oily and fried food substances. You should take combination of antibiotic Levofloxacin along with antihistamine such as Levocetirizine. You should visit ENT specialist once and get it examined. You should get paranasal sinus x-ray done to detect level of infection and treatment can be started accordingly. You should do warm saline rinses 3-4 times a day. You should avoid cold carbonated beverages. You should take diet rich in multivitamins. Apply mist humidifiers in room. You should take throat soothing agents.
