Suggest Medication For Swelling And Pain In Preauricular Sinus

I was born with preauricular sinuses on both my ears. When I was young my right one was surgically removed because of infections. Now I m 47 and the left one is swelling and painful for the first time. It seems to be an absess but has not come to a head yet and its been swelling for 5 days. I got a prescription for Sulfa on Thursday and that doesn t seem to be helping as of yet, Would a different antibiotic work better than sulfamathoxazole? Any advice on what to do, I m not sleeping because of it. thank you Angie Olson

ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hello

Please meet your doctor , as if an abscess has formed , then it is better that is is removed surgically first , the pus can then be sent for culture and the exact sensitivity can be found out.
If you keep on getting this , then i would strongly advice you to get the sinus operated and removed ,
Thanks
