Suggest Medication For Swelling And Pain In The Feet

Hi. I am 70, have some depression, not severe, BPH but have had prostate biopsy within 10 years, colonoscopy, all negative, have some weight gain now, weigh 245 and 6 3 . Active and go to an exercise class 2x week and also walk 30 min/day try to 3 x week. But I do overeat some and right now have swelling in both feet and pain on top of arch in rt foot. I did have one bad episode of gout about 20 yrs ago.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
It may be recurrent attack of gout after prolonged remission,as in elderly gout may be polyarticular.Diuretic (if taken for other indication) in old age often precipiates gout.Go for serum uric acid level and RA factor.Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs(NSAIDs) are first line of drugs to relieve pain and sewlling pending lab reports.
