Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hi,

Vitamin Folic acid may be taken, if necessary, in thalassemia minor. No specific therapy is needed otherwise. One has to avoid iron supplementation unless iron deficiency is documented.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Tushar Kanti Biswas, Internal Medicine Specialist
