Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I live in Alberta Canada. I have type 2 diabetes. I was prescibed Metformin to reduce my blood sugar but I had 16 side effects, none of them pleasant, and my blood sugar did not go down significantly. When I was in Greece, a doctor prescribed Dialosa which is not available in Canada. Dialosa worked for me. My doctor in Canada will not prescribe an equivalent to Dialosa. What do you suggest?
dialosa contains glimepiride. Amaryl (sold in Canada, searched a Canadian online pharmacy) is an equivalent and its cost is about 1.15 USD/tablet (for the 2mg tablet). You can also buy it from Greece for a fraction of the cost (0.16 euro per pill!!!). Gliclazide is an alternative for glimepiride. If your doctor does not want to prescribe this kind of drugs then perhaps you can also try either pioglitazone or a DPP4 inhibitor (sitagliptin for example).
I hope you find my comments helpful! You can contact me again, if you'd like any clarification or further information.
Kind Regards!
