Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My Blood Pressure is 143 over 93. I m 53 and already taking BP meds but it seems too high. Is there another med to consider? I exercise and eat healthy and watch my sodium intake. I m on amlodipine..5 mg per day split into half morning and half evening. My BP has been around 140 over 90 ish for quite a while now.
A blood pressure of 130/80 or less would be best for you in the long run. There is a wide choice of medicines to treat high blood pressure. Since you are already tolerating Amlodipine well, you may add a diuretic or an ARB. Combination of the two may be available in your local pharmacy.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Noble Zachariah, Internal Medicine Specialist
