Suggest Medicine For Child Suffering From Recurring Upper Respiratory Infection

Hi, My Son is 4.5 yr old. Since 1 year, he started catching cold & cough every second month. He was some time prescribed for Prednisol. Then He was prescribed for QVR, Albutorol puffs. Since we are his parents, we actually understand, he does not have asthma but Upper resperitory infection, which triggers cold, could and some time breathing issue. We don;t know, why he prescribed for such medicine. Can t be there any medicine which can just stop upper Resperotary infection?
