Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

You may take oral birth control pills to postpone your menses. These pills are to be started at least 7 days before the expected date of the menstruation. Continue them till you are prepared and ready to have your menses. After discontinuing these pills, you will get withdrawal bleeding within 4 to 7 days.

Exact period of when the withdrawal bleeding will start after discontinuing the pills cannot be predicted precisely. Hence, I would advise you to opt for postponement of the periods rather than preponing them.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nishikant Shrotri
