Suggest Methods To Wean Off Ambien Medicines

how can I wean myself off Ambien? I am an 80 year old woman. and have been on Ambien for several years. I am presently taking 1/2 of 5 mg every night and having some side effects especially my memory.I would like to stop taking it - Can I go cold turkey or should I do it slowly.

Hi there! Since you've been on Ambien for several years I would NOT advise going cold turkey over it. Though your dose is indeed small you'd still need supervised tapering to avoid withdrawal symptoms ( delirium, headache, nausea, vomiting etc) . All the best!
