I am a 63 year old male, non smoking, non-overweight (176 lbs.; 5 11 tall). Friday evening after I urinated I saw blood in my urine. Every time I urinate since it is there and I am even passing small clots. Today I have difficulty beginning a stream until a clots pass that I presume are in my penis. I am very concerned.
Blood in the urine is called hematuria. There are different possible causes such as: (1) infection of some aspect of the urinary tract such as the kidneys, prostate, ureter, urethra or bladder (2)enlarged prostate (3)trauma (4)stone in the urinary tract (5)side effect of medication- medication to stop clotting can cause bleeding (6)mass in the urinary tract (7)blood disorder
These are some of the causes. In some persons, the cause is not found.
It would be best to see your doctor for an assessment which would include physical examination and urine analysis.
I hope this helps
