Suggest Remedies For Diarrhea In An Asthmatic Patient

My sister is having what sounds to me like some pretty serious health issue. She justs moved and changed jobs so is without insurance, so she can t afford to go to a doctor right now. Her symptoms are: serious diarrhea (she says I thought I was going to die ), she can t eat meat (didn t elaborate, but it sounded like a big deal), she has a pounding headache, stinging sensation in the middle of her back, she also mentioned stinging in her ankles and knees. She also has asthma and was exposed to some degreaser at her new job that sucked the air out of her lungs and kicked up her asthma symptoms -- not related to the diarrhea. She has 102 degree temperature. Obviously she needs to go to a doctor or urgent care if we can convince her to go, but any ideas of what might be going on with her.

Hi
Thanks for posting your query on HCM
She is suffering from an enteritis that could be of bacteria, viral or parasitic origin.Given the frequency of her diarrhea, i will suggest you take her to the hospital for examination and tests.A stool exam,culture/sensitivity test will be needed to identify the germ in cause.Other tests that may be needed to explain the symptoms will include a full blood count and a serum electrolytes test.Asthma crisis may or may not be related to diarrhea. However, an asthma crises trigger like a respiratory viral infection may give diarrhea.I am not saying this is what is happening to her, it is just a possibility.I will suggest you place her on an anti-diarrhea like imodium, oral rehydration salt and zinc tablets. You may advise her to add bananas to her diet.
For her ashtma crises, it could have been triggered by by allergy/irritants or the ongoing infection.I will advise you place her on an anti-histamine like premalan and a bronchodilator like salbutamol spray. The rest of the management will be prescribed by her Doctor after seeing the test results.
Hope my answer will help you
Best regards
