Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history and understood the concerns. You have given a short history as you have not mentioned the medications that the baby is receiving.
The commonest causes of passing stools for 8 to 10 times in a day in a small child of 8 months can be as follows:
Intestinal infection due to the spread from the breast that is nipples if the baby is fully breast fed.
If the baby has been given top feeds then this may be due to the intolerance to the top feeds.
Utensils being used can also cause the intestinal infection.
Hence I would suggest you the following in such a situation:
Take the child to the
Pediatrician for clinical evaluation, examination and further investigations of blood and stool.
If there is an evidence of any intestinal infection a course of an antibiotic,
metronidazole and probiotics as per the weight of your baby can help the best.
Cleaning of the nipples and
areola before feeding.
Sterilization of the utensils used for feeding and drinking helps further.
Take care.
