Hi..
Thanks for the query..

The symptoms of loss of taste and smell while having cold and flu is not an abnormal finding.

It is temporary in nature which might occur due to nasal and sinus congestion and as the smell and taste are inter-related senses loss of one can lead to reduced sensitivity of other..

So you need not to worry as gradually when the cold will subside and congestion will clear of the taste and smell senses will recover..

As of now along with Medication you can do steam inhalation with few drops of eucalyptus oil on the boiled water..

Do saline nasal irrigation and Oral and nasal decongestant like Phenylephrine..

Hope this helps.

Regards.
