Suggest Remedies For Pain Due To Mesquite Thorn Prick

I stepped on a mesquite thorn yesterday. It went right through my flip flop into my foot. I thought it was just sore and went swimming. I found out about 6-7 hours later, that there was a piece still in my foot. I removed it, but today, it s very painful. What should I do?

Hello and welcome to HCM,
First of all you have to be sure that the injury is due to thorn prick only and not due to any other cause.
Persisting pain could be due to impacted thorn in the foot, infection of the site or just pain as a after effect of the prick injury.
As you have mentioned that the foreign body has been removed.
However, to ensure that the thorn is removed, a clinical assessment is required.
So, you need to consult your doctor for clinical examination to look for retained foregn body and evidence of infection.
Pain killers can be used for pain and in case infection is present, antibiotics can be used.

Thanks and take care
